A great post from the wrong person is still the wrong lead. When a monitor judges posts for an ICP, each signal also says whether its author matches that ICP, so you can reply to the right people first.
What you see
Under ✦ Why it's a signal, next to what the post matched:
- Author matches ICP: the author's headline fits the ICP's person and company.
- Author outside ICP (muted): it doesn't.
- Nothing: it was unclear, or the monitor doesn't judge for an ICP.
This needs a monitor that judges posts for a specific ICP. Monitors set to your whole company or to custom instructions don't show it.
How it's judged
The match is judged from the author's headline, read with the post. It's quick and free, but it's a first read, not a score: a headline doesn't show company size, industry details or everything else your ICP checks.
For a full check, add the author to a list and score it with the ICP. See Score leads against your ICP. Once the author's list is scored, the signal shows their fit badge with the verdict and percentage.
Show only ICP authors
On the Signals tab, press ICP authors only. The inbox then shows only signals whose author matches the monitor's ICP, judged from their headline. Press it again to show everyone.
Combine it with the other filters at the top: an ICP, a monitor, a period (Today, This week, This month) and a signal type.
Save only ICP authors
When a monitor saves people to a list, ICP matches only keeps out authors (and commenters and likers) whose headline doesn't match the ICP. See Only people who match your ICP.
After you edit the ICP
Matches are judged when the post is found, with the ICP as it was then. If you change the ICP, open it in Targeting: it offers to Re-judge the signals from the last 7 days with the new version, for free. Posts you already commented on, liked, messaged or marked not relevant keep their judgement.
"Author outside ICP" doesn't mean the post is worthless. Someone outside your ICP may still be talking about a pain your buyers share. Read the post before you dismiss it.
