Every exclusion list that's switched on applies to all your work. This page explains what counts as a match and where excluded leads are left out.
What counts as a match
A lead or company matches when any of these is on one of your active lists:
| Match by | Example |
|---|---|
| Domain, including subdomains | news.acme.com and www.acme.com match acme.com |
| Another domain of the same company | acme.fr matches acme.com when the company's name agrees |
| The address itself | |
| Email domain | Any address at acme.com matches when an email at acme.com is on the list, unless it's free mail like gmail.com |
| Company name | "Acme GmbH & Co. KG" and "ACME Group" match "Acme": case, accents, punctuation and legal forms are ignored |
| LinkedIn company page | The company's LinkedIn page |
| LinkedIn profile | The person's LinkedIn profile |
For a lead, filtrat checks the person (their email and profile) and their company (its domains, name and LinkedIn page). Matching any one is enough.
Matching on a domain's name part alone, without the company's name agreeing, would catch unrelated companies that share a word. That's why another domain ending matches only when the name agrees too.
Where excluded leads are left out
| Where | What happens |
|---|---|
| Captures (Sales Navigator searches, posts, events, monitors, watchers) | Matching people and companies are skipped and never saved |
| Find people and Find companies in Targeting | Matching results are marked in the preview, not checked, and not captured |
| Leads and companies already in your lists | Marked Excluded |
| Email finding | Excluded leads are skipped: no lookup, no charge |
| ICP scoring | Excluded rows are skipped: no score, no charge |
| Exports | Excluded leads are left out of lead exports |

What it doesn't do
- It doesn't delete anything. Excluded leads stay in your lists, marked, until you remove them. If you switch the list off or delete it, they're available again.
- It doesn't bring back skipped captures. People a capture skipped while a list was on weren't saved. Turning the list off later doesn't add them; capture again if you need them.
- It doesn't apply to other people. Your lists apply only to your own work.
When a lead's details arrive later
A lead captured without a known domain may get one later, for example when its email is found. It's checked again then, and marked Excluded if it now matches.
