Before you reach out to someone, or when a lead you expected is missing from a capture, you can check in seconds whether they're on one of your exclusion lists. Checking is free.
Check a value
- Open Settings and go to Exclusion lists.
- In Check a company or contact, type one value:
- a domain or website, like
acme.com, - an email, like
jane@acme.com, - a company name, like
Acme, - a LinkedIn company page or profile URL.
- a domain or website, like
- Press Check (or Enter).
The answer is either:
- Excluded by "list name". It matches a value on that list.
- Not on any active list. Nothing on your lists that are switched on matches it.
What a check matches
A check uses the same rules as your captures and lists:
- A website or subdomain counts as its domain:
news.acme.comis checked asacme.com. - An email matches the address itself, and its domain, unless it's free mail like gmail.com.
- A company name matches without its legal form, case, accents or punctuation:
Acme Ltdis checked asacme. - A LinkedIn URL matches a company page or a profile.
See What gets excluded for the full rules.
Only lists that are switched on are checked. If a value is on a list that's off, the answer is Not on any active list.
Find a value in a list
To see exactly what a list holds, press View on it. Entries are grouped by type, such as Domains, Company names, Emails and LinkedIn. Pick a type and type a value to find an exact match, or page through the entries.
When the answer surprises you
A lead you wanted is excluded. The check names the list. Look at that list with View: a domain or a free-standing company name may be broader than you meant. For example, a parent company's domain excludes all its subsidiaries using the same domain. Fix the file and upload it again, or turn the list off if it shouldn't apply right now.
A company you excluded still shows up. Check its other details: a lead may only be known by a domain or name that isn't on your list. Add the missing value (another domain, the LinkedIn page) to your file and upload it again.
A lead is marked Excluded in a list. Click the Excluded tag to open your exclusion lists, then check the lead's email or company domain here to see which list it's on.
