The company name field is optional, but it often decides whether an email is found. It matters most for lists where the domain came from a website, a CRM or a scraped source.
The problem it solves
A company's website domain and its email domain are not always the same:
- The website is
acme-software.com, but staff useacme.com. - A company rebranded. The new website is live, while mailboxes still use the old domain, or the other way round.
- A local site (
acme.de) belongs to a group that uses one global email domain. - Your list has a typo, a marketing landing page or a link shortener in the domain column.
When the domain you give doesn't receive email, there's nothing to search on it, and the lookup would return Not found.
What the company name does
When the domain you give doesn't receive mail, filtrat uses the company name to find the company's real email domain, checks that it receives mail, and searches there instead. If an email is found, the result shows the corrected domain, so you can see where it came from.
This takes a little longer, usually a few extra seconds, and only when the domain needs correcting. Lookups on domains that already receive mail aren't slowed down. A correction found once is remembered, so later lookups at the same company are instant.
Add the country too
Country helps when a company name is shared by several companies or the company runs different domains in different countries. It's optional and only used to pick the right company.
Where to add it
| Where | How |
|---|---|
| Single lookup | Open Optional – improve accuracy (company name, country) under the form. |
| Bulk finder | Map the Company name column (optional) and Country column (optional). |
| API | Send company_name (and company_country) with the request. |
{
"first_name": "Jane",
"last_name": "Doe",
"domain": "acme.com",
"company_name": "Acme"
}Does it cost more?
No. The price is the same: 20 per email found, nothing when nothing is found. Correcting the domain is free.
If a single lookup comes back Not found and you left the optional fields empty, the finder shows Try adding a company name or country to improve results. Click it to open the fields and search again. A new search after a not-found result costs nothing unless an email is found.
