LinkedIn disconnected

Updated Oct 20263 min read

filtrat works through a session with your LinkedIn account. LinkedIn ends sessions from time to time. When that happens, the account shows a red status in Settings → LinkedIn Accounts:

  • Session expired, reconnect: the session timed out or LinkedIn ended it.
  • Disconnected: the connection was lost or couldn't be completed.

Nothing in your lists is lost. Captures and monitors on that account wait until it's back.

Why it happens

  • You changed your LinkedIn password, or signed out of all sessions in LinkedIn's settings.
  • LinkedIn ran a security check on the account and wants you to confirm it's you.
  • You connected with a cookie and then logged out of LinkedIn in that browser, which ends the cookie's session.
  • The session simply expired after a long time.

Reconnect

  1. Open Settings → LinkedIn Accounts.
  2. Press Reconnect next to the account.
  3. Choose Login (your LinkedIn email and password) or Cookie (your li_at cookie, plus li_a for Sales Navigator), then press Connect.
  4. If Verification Required opens, LinkedIn wants to confirm it's you:
    • A code: LinkedIn sent a code to your email or phone. Enter it and press Verify. No code? Press Resend code, or Try another way.
    • App approval: open the LinkedIn app on your phone, approve the sign-in, then press Check status.

When the status shows the connection method again (Credentials or Cookie auth), you're back.

Tip

Log in to linkedin.com in your browser first and clear any security prompt LinkedIn shows there. Reconnecting in filtrat usually goes through without a verification step afterwards.

What happens to running work

WhatWhile disconnectedAfter you reconnect
CapturesPaused with "Account is disconnected."Continue by themselves within a few minutes
Monitors and watchersTheir checks can't run; you may see "LinkedIn didn't respond · retrying next check"Pick up again on the next check
Signal actions (comment, like, message)Fail with a message to reconnectWork again

You don't need to restart anything. If you'd rather not wait, a capture paused by a disconnected account can be moved to another connected account.

Common messages when connecting

MessageWhat to do
"LinkedIn didn't answer. Please try again in a moment"A temporary problem reaching LinkedIn. Wait a minute and try again
"This LinkedIn account is already connected but could not be linked"Email support@filtrat.io; we'll link it for you
Wrong password or codeCheck the details. After several wrong tries LinkedIn may lock sign-in for a while: log in on linkedin.com first
"LinkedIn access required. Connect a LinkedIn account or subscribe."LinkedIn features come with a 2-day free trial from your first connected account, then need a paid plan. See What each plan unlocks

If it keeps disconnecting

  • Don't log out of a cookie session. If you connected with a cookie, logging out of LinkedIn in that browser ends filtrat's session too. Reconnect with Login instead, or take the cookie from a browser profile you don't log out of.
  • Don't share the session. Using other tools that automate the same LinkedIn account at the same time can trigger security checks.
  • Lower the daily cap. Heavy activity makes LinkedIn more likely to ask for checks. See Daily caps and pacing.
  • Use a proxy near you. If you connect from far away, LinkedIn may treat it as an unusual location. You can add your own proxy when connecting.

Still disconnecting every day? Email support@filtrat.io with the account's name and roughly when it disconnects. Never send your LinkedIn password.
