How your LinkedIn access is protected

Connecting LinkedIn lets filtrat search Sales Navigator, read profiles and save leads for you. Your LinkedIn account matters, so here is exactly how that connection is handled.

What happens when you connect

You can connect in two ways in Settings → LinkedIn Accounts:

  • Login: your LinkedIn email and password.
  • Cookie: your LinkedIn session cookie (li_at, and li_a for Sales Navigator).

Either way, the details are used once, to open a secure session with LinkedIn. We don't store your LinkedIn password or session cookie in our database. We keep a reference to the session, plus what the app shows you: the account's name and email, whether it has Sales Navigator, its status, daily cap and today's usage.

If LinkedIn asks for extra verification, you approve it yourself: you enter the code LinkedIn sends you, or approve the sign-in in the LinkedIn mobile app.

Who can use the connection

  • Only your filtrat account and its workspace. A connected account is used for your work, never for other filtrat customers' searches or captures.
  • Only for work you start: searches, captures, watchers and monitors you set up, and comments you approve.
  • Nothing is posted, liked, messaged or commented without you asking. From Claude or another MCP client, every comment shows you the exact text first and is posted only after you approve it.

How your account is kept safe

LinkedIn limits how much activity it accepts from one account. filtrat works within those limits:

  • Daily cap. Each account has a daily cap on actions, which you set in LinkedIn Accounts. Captures stop for the day when it's reached and continue the next day.
  • Pacing. Long captures are spread out over time rather than run in one burst. Searches over 2,500 people are split into smaller ones with pauses between them.
  • Backing off. If LinkedIn starts limiting an account, filtrat pauses work on it and tries again later. If it keeps happening, the account rests for longer.

See Keep your LinkedIn account safe and Daily caps and pacing.

Tip

If you use LinkedIn heavily yourself, set a lower daily cap, or connect a second account for large captures.

Optional proxy

When connecting, you can add your own proxy, so LinkedIn sees the connection coming from a location you choose, for example your own country. It's optional; leave it empty if you don't have one.

Ending the connection

  • In filtrat: in LinkedIn Accounts, remove the account. filtrat stops using it at once and the session is ended.
  • In LinkedIn: you can also end the session from LinkedIn's own settings, or change your password. The account then shows as disconnected in filtrat until you reconnect it.

Running captures on that account pause; they continue if you reconnect it or move them to another connected account.

When the connection ends by itself

LinkedIn ends sessions from time to time, for example after a password change or a security check. The account then shows Disconnected or Session expired, reconnect. Nothing is lost: press Reconnect. See LinkedIn disconnected.
