Auto top-up buys a credit pack with your saved card when your balance drops below an amount you choose. Captures, monitors and imports keep running instead of pausing for credits.
Turn it on
- Open Credits & billing and find Auto top-up.
- Choose the Pack to buy: any of the pay-as-you-go packs. Pack credits never expire. If your account has a pack of its own (agreed with us), it's listed first as Your pack and is bought at its own price.
- Set When the balance drops below. Left empty, it's a quarter of the pack's credits (for the 50,000-credit pack, 12,500).
- Choose At most, per month: 1, 2, 3, 5 or 10 top-ups. The default is 3. It resets on the 1st of each month (UTC).
- Press Turn on.
Which card is used:
- You're on a plan: the card your plan is paid with. The button says which (Turn on with ···· 4242).
- No card on file, or you choose Turn on with another card: checkout opens and you buy the first pack now. That card is saved for the next top-ups, and auto top-up turns on when the payment goes through.
What happens
- Right after anything uses credits, we check your balance. Below your amount, we buy the pack once and the credits are added within seconds. You get an email receipt.
- Work that paused for credits continues by itself.
- Your subscription credits are still used first; auto top-up only looks at your total balance.
- When the month's limit is reached, nothing more is bought and we email you once. Buy a pack by hand or raise the limit to continue.
When a payment fails
If the card is refused, or your bank asks you to confirm the payment (which can't be done automatically), we turn auto top-up off and email you. We never try the same card again on our own. Buy a pack to continue, then turn auto top-up back on, with the same card or another card.
The last top-ups and their status are listed under Auto top-up. They also appear as credit purchases in your billing history.
