An API key lets other tools use your filtrat account: the REST API, Claude and other MCP clients, Clay, n8n and your own scripts. Anything run with a key uses your credit balance at the same prices as the app.
Create a key
- In the sidebar, open API. The API keys tab opens first.
- Press Create key.
- Give the key a name that says where it's used, for example "Clay" or "Claude". Press Create.
- Copy the key from the Copy your key window and store it somewhere safe, such as a password manager.
- Press Done.
Keys start with ak_. The full key is shown only once. After you close the window, filtrat shows just the first few characters so you can tell your keys apart.
Treat a key like a password. Anyone who has it can spend your credits. Don't paste it into shared documents, screenshots or public code.
Use a key
Send the key in the Authorization header of each request:
Authorization: Bearer ak_your_key_hereThe MCP and Clay tabs on the same page fill your key into ready-to-copy setups. Right after you create a key, they use it automatically during that visit. For the full setup, see Connect filtrat to Claude and Use filtrat in Clay.
See your keys
The API keys tab lists every active key with:
- its name and first characters, like
ak_1a2b3c… - when it was created
- when it was last used, or Never used
- an expiry date, if it has one
A key you haven't used in a long time is a good candidate to revoke.
Revoke a key
- On the API keys tab, press the trash icon next to the key.
- Confirm.
The key stops working straight away. Any tool still using it gets an "invalid API key" error, so update those tools with a new key first if you're replacing it.
Lost a key?
Keys can't be shown again, even by support. Create a new key, update the tool that used the old one, and revoke the old key.
One key per tool
Create a separate key for each tool or teammate's script. If one leaks or a tool is retired, you revoke just that key and nothing else breaks.
