Check the evidence behind an answer

Updated Oct 20262 min read

An AI answer is only useful if you can trust it. Every value in an AI column comes with the evidence it was based on, so you can check it in a few seconds instead of opening the website yourself.

See the evidence

  • In the list: a small ⓘ icon appears next to an answer that has evidence. Hover it to read the evidence. When available, it also shows Confidence: verified or unverified.
  • While testing a new column: Test on 3 rows shows each answer with its evidence underneath. Use Show more for long evidence.

The evidence is the text the answer was based on: a line from the company's website, or the part of the person's profile that settles the question.

Read it critically

Ask three things:

  1. Does the evidence say what the answer says? "Yes, has an API" with evidence quoting a developer documentation page is solid. The same answer based on a blog post about APIs isn't.
  2. Is it about the right company or person? Companies with common names, or a person with several current roles, can mix sources.
  3. Is it current? A profile or a site can be out of date. A "Recently changed jobs" answer depends on the profile being up to date.

Unverified means the answer is a reasonable reading but wasn't clearly confirmed by the source. Treat it as a lead to check, not a fact.

No data

When the answer can't be found, the cell shows no value. That's not a "no": it means neither the profile nor the website said. You aren't charged for cells without an answer.

If most cells come back empty, the question is probably about something that isn't public. See Write questions that get good answers.

When an answer is wrong

  • One wrong answer: usually the source is ambiguous or out of date. Note it and move on, or fix the cell by hand in your CRM after export.
  • Many wrong answers with the same pattern: the question needs a definition. Edit the column and test it on a few rows until the answers come out right.

ICP scores have evidence too

ICP scoring works the same way, criterion by criterion. Click a verdict in the ICP column to see every criterion with its status and the reason behind it. See What the verdicts mean.
